Marriage Requires Work!!

Here is your tickle for this Tuesday!

A couple was having some trouble, so they did the right thing and went to a marriage counselor. After a few visits, a lot of questioning and listening, the counselor said that he had discovered the main problem.

He stood up, went over to the woman, ask her to stand, and gave her a hug. He looked at the man and said, "This is what your wife needs, at least once a day!"

The man frowned, thought for a moment, then said, "OK, what time do you want me to bring her back tomorrow?"

Get your hugs in ladies!! We need them and so does the rest of the family!!

Sprinkles For Your Spirit

It's cold outside and the weather men are predicting 5-8 inches of snow for today. The snow is coming down and so far we have about 6 inches! There is a saying in Colorado...if you don't like the weather, give it a second and it will change!

I am so ready for spring. And after having a few days last week of being in the 70's, it's hard to transition back to snow and cold. It brings me back to last Thursday....

Last Thursday was a great day. It was warm and sunny, just beautiful. I decided to take Sebastian for a walk. After we returned, we stayed outdoors and played in the back yard. It was so nice out that I thought it would be a good idea to give the lawn an early watering. So I pulled out the hose and sprinkler and turned the water on. As soon as I did, Sebastian took notice.

At first, he just went over and touched the edge of the sprinklers stream. Whoa! That was fun. Little by little he got closer and closer until...well just take a look!

As you can tell, he got a just a little wet! Or maybe I should rephrase that...he got soaked!

ls it obvious that he was having a blast!?

On this Thankful (Cold ) Thursday I thankful for warm sunny days and the wonderful memories that come with them. Reflecting back on last Thursday, I remember how much I enjoyed watching Sebastian experience the simple fun of running threw the sprinklers. Simplicity at it's best. It was a time to stop and cherish the moment.

Yes, I know that this day isn't the only sunny warm day we will get to experience. I realize that summer will soon be upon us and there will be more fun days ahead. But with that, I also know that I will never get this day back.

Sebastian is growing and changing and so am I. Which makes it all that more important to make sure that I am living in the moment. I want to be present so life doesn't pass me by and all I have is pictures and no memories. While I was watching him laugh and play in the water that day, I told myself to enjoy this moment and burn it into my memory. I know that with parenting, not every moment can be so blissful. But times like these make being a parent a joy, or might I even add a wet wonderful treat.

So be thankful for the moment you are in. Be present in your life. Don't let it pass you by, you only get today once. Live it!

No Internet, I Am Going Crazy!!!

Was your Tuesday missing something? Perhaps a laugh out loud joke from yours truly? If you noticed that I was no where to be found last Tuesday, you would be correct. No, I did not give up on writing. No, I didn't forget. No, I wasn't out of jokes, are you kidding!! So why was there no new writings? I had no Internet!

Our Internet provider has been having problems for days. Some days we had it for a few minutes, some days we had nothing! And last Monday was one of those days! No Internet all day!

Through this experience I have realized three things.

1) I really like being on the Internet. As a stay at home mom, the Internet is like my connection to the world. I can read other blogs and share information with other moms. And I never realized how much I enjoy doing just that until it was gone!!

2) I use the Internet for a lot of different things. Some examples are paying bills online, selling items on eBay, finding coupons to print, and connecting with family. When the Internet is gone, some of these things are impossible to complete.

3) I felt broken without the Internet! I just didn't know how much I access the Internet until it wasn't there. I didn't know what to do with my day.

Since I add all this extra time on my hands, I went to the gym and got an extra workout in. And in the late afternoon Sebastian and I played outside and went for a walk. So all that was good! But for the rest of the day, I was so lost. I even ended up making a batch of chocolate chip cookies for some comfort food!! I was so miserable!!

So on this thankful Thursday I am sure you can guess what I am thankful for!! That's right, my Internet!! I am so glad to be back up and connecting with you and the world!! I hope you are just as thankful to be receiving entries from me again!! I am back, baby! And it it feels great!!

Oh Boy!! Here Come the Ducks!!

Our family often visits a local park near our house. This park is one of our favorite parks in town. Not only because it is close, but there is a train that you can ride, a great playground, gorgeous grass for picnics in the shade and a beautiful lake full of ducks!

My husband, who was raised in our town, has told me stories about his childhood and all the fun he had in this very park. He recalled many wonderful train rides and play times with his parents. But he said what he used to love most of all was feeding bread to the ducks.

We thought that Sebastian would also enjoy feeding the ducks. So last summer we went fairly regularly to the park. We would always start with feeding the ducks, but he wasn't really interested. Eventually we would end up on the swings, which always brought I big smile and sometimes a laugh! We would tell ourselves that maybe 'one day' he will be in to it. Just like his neat and amazing parents are!! (A little plug for the parents!!)

That 'one day' has arrived! After Sebastian's nap we decided to venture over to the park. It was an extremely sunny day but it was still rather chilly. We grabbed the bread and headed towards the ducks and geese. We then handed Sebastian a piece of bread.

My first thought was that he was going to shove that piece of bread in his mouth because to him bread is like candy!! But he surprised me and tossed the bread out towards the ducks! We all started clapping and saying our family slogan...good job!! He kept asking my husband for more bread to toss out. Every time the ducks would grab one of the pieces of bread he would laugh and get excited for more bread!! See, Sebastian, your parents are on to something here!! It's called fun!

Looking back on today, I wanted to share how thankful I am that my family had the opportunity to explore the outdoors and to get in touch with nature. Sometimes in our busy, technological world we forget about the wonder of nature. The sound of geese squawking, the beautiful feathers on the ducks, or even the breeze on our face. Something so simple, can be so memorable.

Sebastian made the whole experience even better. We had to leave as soon as our loaf of bread was gone because it was starting to get pretty cold. And would you believe that Sebastian didn't want to go!!

Who knew that feeding ducks was so much fun? Well...now, Sebastian knows!

Dinner Guests

Here's your little tickle for this Tuesday. Hope it puts a little smile on your face!!

My wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to our six-year-old son and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"

"I wouldn't know what to say," he replied.

"Just say what you hear Mommy say."

So our son bowed his head and said, "Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

I Can See...Thanks To My Son

I was downstairs and I had just finished cleaning up the living room. I told my husband I was headed upstairs to write Thursdays blog. Before I left the room I paused, looked at my husband and said, "Hey, what are you thankful for today?" After first, he looked like he was actually putting thought into the question then stopped, looked at me and smiled.

It was a thought, but just a thought!! This Thankful Thursday's message is my own and I did not steal it from my husband!! Promise!! I have more than enough to be thankful for! Although, it did get my husband thinking about what he is thankful for...and that is never a bad thing!!

Today was a bea - U - ti - ful day in Colorado!! I believe we hit a temperature high of 75! And this is only March...that's crazy!! Anyway it was one of those days that you just can't and shouldn't stay inside! So after Sebastian's nap, he and I went out into the backyard to play.

It's so neat to watch him play. He his getting into the stage that I call "boy discovery" stage. He wants to touch, feel, throw, and sometimes taste everything!! Things that are boring to us are like precious jewels to him!! He will pick up the most dull and bland looking item and then exclaim a big, "Whoa!" To him, he has found a treasure worthy of great examination. Whether it is something he can pick up and touch or an animal sound that sends him searching the skies, he is always exploring the world around him. And he is in awe.

Seeing the world through his eyes is 'eye opening'. That rock there has a little sparkle....that's so pretty. The grass is starting to come back to life....what a beautiful color of green. Here come the geese...how neat it must be to fly.

Again and again I found myself also discovering new things in my world. They may be things that I already knew about like rocks, grass and geese. But now, I was looking at them differently. This time I was looking through my son's eyes. And I discovered something else, I like what he sees.

I am thankful that my son has opened my sight. My eyes now have a different perspective on not only the little things around me, but my whole has changed. His vision is teaching me to appreciate and be in awe of all that is in my life. From the green blade of grass, to the warmth of a hug from my little Sebastian, to the way my husband lovingly holds my hand, to the peace and comfort of our home.

It's time to get a new vision of your life and the beauty that is all around you. Open your eyes and you will see your husband looks different. Your children look different. Your home looks different. Your life looks different.

When did all those things become so beautiful? So loving, so warm, so peaceful?

The change didn't happen to them, it happened to you. Your eyes have been 'opened'. And you too are now in awe!

The Wish

A little tickle for your Tuesday. I hope you enjoy!

THE WISH
A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer. All of a sudden he said out loud, "Lord grant me one wish."

Suddenly the sky clouded above his head and in a booming voice the Lord said, "Because you have TRIED to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish."

The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii, so I can drive over anytime I want to."

The Lord said, "Your request is very materialistic. Think of the logistics on that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of another wish, a wish you think would honor and glorify me."

The man thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, "Lord, I have been married and divorced four times. All of my wives said that I am uncaring and insensitive. I wish that I could understand women. I want to know how they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment. Why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing' and how I can make a woman truly happy?"

After a few minutes the Lord said,"You want two lanes or four on that bridge?"
