DIY: My Kitchen EAT Sign

Have you ever noticed the EAT sign on the show Cougar Town? It caught me eye a long time ago and I have been struggling on how to recreate this for my own kitchen.

I have seen many versions out in blogland...like this one using fabric from Maillardville Manor...

Or this style of zinc letters, from Me Oh My....

Even Pottery Barn has an EAT sign...

I went to Hobby Lobby and found my cardboard letters and a great piece of scrapbook paper that I really LOVED, but I couldn't find any other coordinating patterns that I loved as much. So, what to do??

I thought maybe a bronze look would go nice in my kitchen....so here's what I decided to do.

I went to Lowe's and grabbed a can of Rust-o-leum Metallic Bronze spray paint. I already had some Velcro wall-hanging attachments leftover from a previous project.

I sprayed each letter with a couple fine coats and then I left them to dry.

Once dry, I attached the Velcro tabs and then hung them up over my kitchen window.

And I think I like it...what do you think??

I just love that Rust-o-leum Paint...the letters really look like bronzed metal! Sneaky, sneaky!! And this whole project was right around $10 bucks!! The letters were 50% off (only $2.67 for all 3), paint ($7.88) and I already had the Velcro strips.

Here's another close up...

I think I will leave it up for now. If I find the perfect scrapbook paper, I may change it around.

What do you think? Should I leave it as is??

I have the exact same letters- I painted mine a satin black. So, not that I'm biased :) but I say leave them how you have them!
