Not A Normal Sunday....

To sum it up...today was an interesting day. It started normal and routine like and then in a split of a second it all changed.

My husband and I were out running errands with my son. We were out in the parking lot getting into the car when...here come the split second moment, my son fell landing head first onto the parking lot concrete. When he stood up, blood was running down his face!

Now, I know all moms know, that accidents with the head always look bad and bleed a ton. I was trying to remind myself of that...but it's hard not to freak out when you see lots of blood on your baby's face!

My husband quickly got some towels and applied pressure. We then climbed into the car and sat for 15-20 minutes...just applying pressure. We finally decided it was time to look at the damage and see what our next step would be.

I have to tell you people, when my husband removed the towel, I couldn't believe my eyes. Not one, but two huge lacerations...and we both new instantly, he was going to need stitches.

So we drove to ER and they bandaged his head and we waited for an exam from the doctor.

The doctor then came in and examined him, and then decided he would us glue instead of stitches! He was explaining how better the glue is...doesn't require needles, don't have to get the stitches removed, just dissolves away after 5-7 days....etc... I was like stop...you had me at the word glue!!! Less traumatic and just plain easier for everyone involved.

So this is what my brave little guy looks like now...

He is back to his fun, energetic self..and I am so very thankful! But, I tell you, this mom needs some strong drink tonight!! :)

Oh My....I Am Totally Hooked!

I know I am a little late to the party, but I had to know if the rumors where true.. You know, the rumor once you go there you will be sucked in for hours! Which is what totally happened to me last night!

If you don't already know, the 'there' I speak of is Pinterest! It's amazing!! So much to look at like...some great inspirational thoughts....(you know how I love those!)

I love this one because we can easily forget...

I also found some great do-it-yourself projects like this cute artwork.

To make these, you just glue some wooden letters onto canvas and then paint the whole thing the same color. So simple...so beautiful!

I also found some great inspiration for the gallery wall I am going to make...I am really!!

When my sister comes to visit, we are going to take a trip to the new IKEA and see if I can pick up some frames!! I want to make that bench, too. I just need more hours in the day...like 24 more! ;)

I also found some crazy things that I labeled "Who Lives Like This?!"...

I mean really, do you know anyone who lives like this?! I can tell you who wishes they did...my husband. He saw this picture and instantly fell. in. love.

I saw this picture...

And head-over-heels fell. in. love. That shower and that tub are unreal. And the window with the beautiful green forest outside..I just got to ask? Who lives like this?!

And if you would love to combine swimming pools with a bed and TV....check this out...

Like I said, there are lots of things to see on Pinterest

But what I like most, it's a great way to organize all the amazing inspiration I see online! I would constantly see things that I wanted to make or recreate. But I didn't have a great way to save those ideas until I could find the time, money, supplies, etc......Well, problem solved! You just add a little pin to your tool bar and whenever you see something online you like, you just "pin it" and it saves it to your Pinterest! How cool is that?!

The thing about Pinterest, is that you join by invitation only. You can sign up for an invitation. But I have heard that takes a few days. But, if you get an invite from a friend, you can sign up faster. And guess what? You have got a friend!! Yeah! If you would like an invite, just shoot me an email and I will send you an invitation!  I don't know how many I can send, but I will try my hardest to get to everyone!

And when you find that you were only going to look for a few minutes and now it's been like three hours...don't say I didn't warn you! I am totally hooked and I know you will be too! :)

IKEA: FREE Couches!!!

Two years ago, I was so excited to here that Denver was finally going to get an IKEA!! I had heard bloggers speak of the wonders of this store! But I was never able to touch and see for myself....but I will be able to soon!! (cue: little squeal)

The IKEA in Denver will open on this Wednesday, July 27!! I know that I am super excited but apparently not as excited as some people...

Crazy!! These people started setting up tents to wait in line for two days! I guess the first 38 people in line get a FREE couch! (This is the 38th IKEA store in the United States, which explains the unusual number.) The next 100 in line get a FREE arm chair!! And the first 100 kids in line get a FREE special plush toy!

Well...now that I know that...I need to go find my tent!! :)

Would you what in line for two days for a free couch? Do you have an IKEA nearby? Do you love it??

Getting To Know Me...

Happy Thursday!! I thought for fun, I would share 10 crazy things about me! This should be interesting...

1.) I read magazines from the back to the front! I don't know why, just always have done it that way!

2.) I get the chills watching someone brush their teeth!! That sound....gives me the creeps!

3.) I can eat Mexican food everyday of the week! Love it!

4.) I enjoy scary movies, but only in theaters. I love all the tension from other viewers....it makes the movie that much more intense!!

5.) I crashed into a parked car while trying to pull out of a parking space. Oh, did I also mention this was at the same time I was taking my drivers license test?! Yea...needless to say I did not get my license that day!!!

6.) I lived in Kansas City for a year and was scared to death of the rain storms! The lightening and thunder was so crazy, I could never sleep. You Kansas folks are brave!! Oh, and don't even get me talking about the tornadoes! Yikes!

7. I can't stand the site of blood. Don't like to touch it or be near it. Basically, I avoid it at all costs. But, guess what...my job to help me through college was a Certified Nurses Aid!!!

8.) When I get the flu, one of my eyes always weeps. I have now passed that little trait on to my son, apparently!

9.) I have a horrible time recognizing faces! My husband is so scared that when we get old and senile, I will beat him up with my handbag because I don't recognize him!!

10.) This last one is a risk....I am really sharing here people! About a month ago, Showtime was airing a Twilight marathon. So, I recorded them all. And since then I have been watching lots of Twilight. Like twice a week...okay....three times a week. Okay, you got me....like every night of the week!!! I know...that's crazy! There's just nothing good to watch in the summer...so I figure, why not!

And that my dears, is 10 interesting little quirks about me! I hope you got some good laughs and hopefully (fingers crossed), I didn't send you all running!! :)

Blueberry Cobbler

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
Serves: 12

3 1/2 pint containers of fresh blueberries (or you can also use frozen)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon all purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
6 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons butter, chilled
1 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons sugar

1) Lightly grease an 8x8 baking dish. Place the blueberries in the dish and mix with vanilla and lemon juice. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of flour. Then stir in the tablespoon of melted butter. Set aside.

2) In a medium bowl, stir together 1 3/4 cups flour, baking powder, and 6 tablespoons of sugar. Rub in the 5 tablespoons of butter using your fingers or cut it with a pastry blender until it is into small pieces. Make a well in the center and quickly stir in the milk. Mix just until moistened. You should have a very think batter or a very wet dough. You may need to add a splash more milk. Cover, and let batter rest for 10 minutes.

3) Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spoon the batter over the blueberries, leaving only a few small holes for the berries to peak through. Mix together the cinnamon and 2 teaspoons of sugar; sprinkle over the top.

4) Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the topping should come out clean (besides the blueberry syrup of course!). Let cool until just warm before serving. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
