My junk drawer was no exception....
So I took the whole drawer and placed it on my coffee table. I turned on one of my favorite TV shows, got a trash bag and dived right in.
You want to know some of the things I discovered in this drawer? A tire gauge, a thermometer, some baby pictures of my son, my college transcripts, and Halloween candy?! Man....what a mess.
I removed everything, cleaned the actually drawer and then placed everything back. To organize this space, I found a set of three great little baskets at Wal-mart a few days back. They cost a total of $1.34 and I think they were worth every penny.
It took me about 30 minutes to organize this drawer. And here are the results...
I placed markers and glue in the first basket. Pencils in the second. And pens and tape in the third. To the side of that is a collection of note pads. I have checkbooks in the back for now. I may move them if I find a better place. But overall, I think a great improvement from before.
I am amazed by how many pencils we have collected. My husband was always complaining that he could never find a pencil. I would always tell him, there are some in the junk drawer, just go get one. He would say that he already looked there--couldn't find any. So, eventually he would just give up and go buy more. Well, last night when he came home, I told him to go see if he could find a pencil. You should have seen the look on his face! Booyah! :)
